New York Fashion Week has just concluded and I am very excited to tell you about the fashion trends that reflect the VERY promising financial markets.

WHICH WAY DO THE HEMLINES GO?
For one thing, honey, we are finally getting out of the “maxi-age” — the hemlines are going up and that – from the Hemline Index – means that we are finally getting an uplift in the economy!

To tell you the truth, I thought it would never happen. But the global economy IS showing signs of recovery.
FLY! FLY! FLY!
Speaking of uplift – what better way to send this message around than those flying creatures – yes – BIRDS are a-fluttering in the runway. I can take them in all colors, shapes and sizes. The important thing is the message of things going up. That’s good enough.
A little EXTRA perhaps?
Now, with the extra funds that seem to be making its way into the world, what better way that this is so, with a little bit extra in places to make things a little bit interesting. Presenting … the Peplum… now to all the girls out there who don’t know what that is, it is the “skirt-like” design that adorns a dress, such that there appears to be 2 layers in the bodice. It adds a certain flounce, certainly, a girlie flair to an otherwise, straight-up style. If there is an indication that there is extra money lying around, this is it!
Hello YELLOW!
There is definitely the hopeful mood springing eternal – and what says that better than perky, sunshiny color – Yellow! Some people can also say it is the closest color to gold and yes we’re never going to get tired of that. With the euro and US dollar see-sawing — we need somewhere safe to protect us. Bring in the bling!
HOPEFUL- but careful.
It does seem all very nice, all very hopeful, however, fashion darlings are reminding us, that it’s not all rah-rah happiness. The recover is still a little bit muted, it’s there but only a little bit. So pastel colors are making rounds this season. Light intensity, yes, reminding us to still be careful with the money, darlings.
Giving ALL we’ve got!
It does seem that we’re all willing to try all sorts of solutions at our global and collective problems, tax increases, retirement increases, spending cuts here, spending cuts there — new economic programs, debt-forgiveness — anything and everything — there is no shortage of ideas. Fashion is showing this too in glorious variety Digital prints — really anything the mind can conceive, fashion receives!
Keep things in perspective
However, if there is one thing that we should keep in mind it is that global growth and recovery is still uncertain, –and fashion makes pretty obvious with ABSTRACT designs. Interpretations can be different, certainly, the outcome is still unsure.
